I am pursuing my doctorate in Social Dimensions of Health with the University of Victoria, thanks to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Award and Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. My doctoral research is a narrative inquiry into how chronic pain, disability, and sexuality are experienced and navigated by people of reproductive age living with chronic pain, as well as by their health care providers and, where possible, their sexual or romantic partners.

I became a registered nurse in 2014, beginning as a rural public health nurse in small town Northern Alberta. Loving all things public health, I tenaciously pursued my passion for sexual health, exploring a few other roles along the way. Since then, I have continued to pursue my primary passion - teaching - while finding another passion: research. In 2022, I received my Master of Nursing degree through the University of Calgary, becoming an advanced practice nurse after defending my thesis, Emerging Adult Women with Chronic Pain: A Narrative Inquiry.

Changing the narrative with effective knowledge translation strategies is important. We can’t leave people with pain behind.
